So I meant to make these about a month ago and have them up in the shop for Easter as something alternative to the traditional baskets and more relaxed. However some how time got away from me and I screwed the pooch. So I made them any way and am doing a mini tutorial on it. That way if any of you have been unaware of weathering plastic you to can be in the know. Step one find some tiny ass baskets and put that fake grass stuff in there. OK so now you have your tiny ass baskets. Pick out some tiny shit to go in them. I chose stuff from my art porch but you could go nuts. Put a condom in there, a tiny bottle of booze, breath mints. Really you are only limited by the variety of tiny shit you possess. Now mine are each filled and each item has been hot glued in. So time for our next step. Grab your window insulation kit and steal the plastic. Fuck it in a few more years we won't have winter anyway. But the memory of handing out these tiny baskets will be with you always or alzheimers. So cut little squares and wrap them around your basket. Then tie it at the top with a string. I used some raffia I had on hand. Then grab your blow dryer and blow your baskets on hot. These are my final results.

So I have been on a very creative streak. Last week I saw this great post by another artist. http://almastoller.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-make-soap-box-canvas.html?m=1 While I did not have a soap box on the ready it inspired me to make you of the Cheez-its box. Ok so I ate the last few Cheez-its. Don't you judge me you bastards it was for art. Any how I did it a little different using fabric and this is how it went. First I sealed up the box and put on a couple of layers of gesso. Sadly I only got a photo after one coat because I am easily distracted. Then I added some fabric and mod podge to it. As you can see I needed another coat of gesso or a thicker fabric. Still this was for fun so I went with it. Now first thing is the top was kind of rough so I see why the paper works better. I added a little prism because why the hell not. Then I gave it a dog theme. I painted both sides and this is what I came up with. It was a fun project I will definitely be trying more versions of this.
Love Cappy Sue Something I learned over the years is given the opportunity I will burn myself out every time. I will work like a demon on things for my shop and put off all those projects I want to do for me. That is all great and dandy till you have 5000 things you want to make and no desire to create anything for sale.
So I spent this weekend just making a few projects for myself. First was the spring tree or Easter Tree. I took some tiny stuffed animals I have been given over the years that have sentimental value and added a few I thrifted for a quarter each. After a good was I took a plain old craft cone and made this. Yes it is totally over the top girly. It also screams baby animals and spring to me so I am happy with it. The next thing was my cat bed. This will likely end up out on the back porch for the kitties to have a nice spot off the ground to sun during this gorgeous spring weather. Last is just a photo of some of my kitties because they are fucking adorable and if you like me one shred then you know I have some serious pet love. Hope you all had a great weekend too. Love Cappy So first welcome this is my first blog post over here. Now on to the fun stuff. I know some people love to make one thing or one area of things and become perfect at it. That will never be me. I am a must something like a mad scientist without the amazing mind and done with crafts. Forever I am wondering hmm what can I make of this or that. Sometimes those things go terribly wrong and I still finish them because it helps me learn. Then sometimes they go not so bad. This is one of those times. I have a large stash of gorgeous old broken jewelry friends have sent me. I turned this one into a sun catcher then sewed a little creation to it to spin in the wind. The creation at the bottom is made of fancy papers and inks. I love it. Now it is not perfect and I would need to work on it more to make them nice enough to sell but I love tinkering and today this was my tinkering. Thanks for listening. Love Cappy |
