First I sealed up the box and put on a couple of layers of gesso. Sadly I only got a photo after one coat because I am easily distracted.

So I have been on a very creative streak. Last week I saw this great post by another artist. http://almastoller.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-make-soap-box-canvas.html?m=1 While I did not have a soap box on the ready it inspired me to make you of the Cheez-its box. Ok so I ate the last few Cheez-its. Don't you judge me you bastards it was for art. Any how I did it a little different using fabric and this is how it went. First I sealed up the box and put on a couple of layers of gesso. Sadly I only got a photo after one coat because I am easily distracted. Then I added some fabric and mod podge to it. As you can see I needed another coat of gesso or a thicker fabric. Still this was for fun so I went with it. Now first thing is the top was kind of rough so I see why the paper works better. I added a little prism because why the hell not. Then I gave it a dog theme. I painted both sides and this is what I came up with. It was a fun project I will definitely be trying more versions of this.

I have been busy this week. Dolls are coming a long and recently been on another kick of must try new things and finish up old ones. We have had some ups and some downs. First the ups.
Reindeer that is fucking right I said reindeer. The other day I bought a purse at the thrift. I found this bag folded up tucked inside of it. It is a old Montgomery ward bag. It had the cutest image of a reindeer on it. Being the holiday whore I am I wanted to turn it into a decoration of some kind. So I cut out the main image and modge podged that son of a bitch right onto a canvas. Then I painted it read around it. Added a black border and white polka dots. Then I glazed the whole thing because I don't want anything fucking up my deer. All in all I am pretty happy with it and it will go away till the holidays then come claim a position in my home decor. Next up was my wild crazy art doll. She will be in the shop this next day or two. I love how wild she looks. Her clothing is hand sewn by me and I am greatly enjoying her rats nest of hair. The downs well they involved felt. I love to felt but am still learning. It was meant to be a rainbow colored hot air balloon. Instead I made a rainbow garlic bulb. Now what the fuck do I do with that. Oh wait I have a giveaway coming up on my Facebook page I may know just the thing. I hope this has all given you a laugh. Love Cappy Sue Something I learned over the years is given the opportunity I will burn myself out every time. I will work like a demon on things for my shop and put off all those projects I want to do for me. That is all great and dandy till you have 5000 things you want to make and no desire to create anything for sale.
So I spent this weekend just making a few projects for myself. First was the spring tree or Easter Tree. I took some tiny stuffed animals I have been given over the years that have sentimental value and added a few I thrifted for a quarter each. After a good was I took a plain old craft cone and made this. Yes it is totally over the top girly. It also screams baby animals and spring to me so I am happy with it. The next thing was my cat bed. This will likely end up out on the back porch for the kitties to have a nice spot off the ground to sun during this gorgeous spring weather. Last is just a photo of some of my kitties because they are fucking adorable and if you like me one shred then you know I have some serious pet love. Hope you all had a great weekend too. Love Cappy It is that special special day, the first day of fall. It is the time when you drink hot shit with booze in it for no real reason, over swaddle yourself with scarves, play with dead foliage and ghost try to scare you. I love every bit of it. So soon as it gets in sight I start making things. These little ornaments or gift tags are one of those things. They are now available in my shop all with free U.S. shipping. If you would like to check them out just go to my shop or click on the photo.
Love Cappy So as you guys know I love to make all kinds of things but surreal dolls are one of my very favorites. When I work on them I get to create who little lives for them in my head. These are my current two the fairy is now in the Etsy shop with the wild woman going in later today.
This is the start of the story of my restoration and alteration of this beat up little doll house. I picked it up for a song at a thrift shop. It is a 1980's The Little house that has seen better days. It needs a fire place, window repairs, all kinds of things but to start with it needed a door. So this is the step by step of me making a door.
So it has been a busy week getting the shop all up and running again. There was a dead squirrel in the back yard incident. Sold my baby craps alot doll which made me laugh and been busy working on new things. This alter art doll my little pony is a prime example. It makes me laugh and I hope it does you too. It would be perfect for a pony collector who wants something really one of a kind.
My other time has been spent finishing a personal sewing project and making total crap that I would never show anyone but my dog. Love Cappy Sue PS. If you would like to see the details on this pony or consider purchasing it you can do so here . https://www.etsy.com/listing/203003239/my-little-raver-pony-altered-art-doll?ref=shop_home_active_2 This is a fun little creation I worked on this week. I love jazzing up crap as I call it. Taking something old and giving it a whole new life. That was the case with this silver leaf candy dish. When I saw it I thought it should have a fairy in it. So I made this one. I gave her little paper wings, a teddy bear she is snuggling and hand stitched her a tiny fairy quilt. So soon as I get a chance she will be available here and in my little Etsy shop www.cappysue.etsy.com. Off to try a nap of my own.
Love Cappy So first welcome this is my first blog post over here. Now on to the fun stuff. I know some people love to make one thing or one area of things and become perfect at it. That will never be me. I am a must something like a mad scientist without the amazing mind and done with crafts. Forever I am wondering hmm what can I make of this or that. Sometimes those things go terribly wrong and I still finish them because it helps me learn. Then sometimes they go not so bad. This is one of those times. I have a large stash of gorgeous old broken jewelry friends have sent me. I turned this one into a sun catcher then sewed a little creation to it to spin in the wind. The creation at the bottom is made of fancy papers and inks. I love it. Now it is not perfect and I would need to work on it more to make them nice enough to sell but I love tinkering and today this was my tinkering. Thanks for listening. Love Cappy |
